Something Beautiful: The roof of a restaurant in Turkey
I experienced this restaurant when I was on a scholarship tour of Turkey where the owners hung different light covers throughout the restaurant. I found this quite striking as it possessed a more welcoming approach into the restaurant, but also because of the detail in each individual light which when experienced in person is quite beautiful.
A Great Piece of Architecture: Blue Mosque In Istanbul, Turkey
The mosque was designed by architect Mehmet Aga in 1609, where the commissioner Sultan Ahmet I eagerly wanted the mosque finished that he also helped with the construction. The Blue Mosque originally included a madrasa, a hospital, a primary school, a market and the tomb of the founder. However, most of these buildings were torn down in the 19th Century. Inside of the mosque the walls are covered with mosaic tiles which extend from the ground to the roof.
